Day 55 in Oslo

SNOW!!!!

View from my window….

 snow.jpg

It’s pretty much been snowing since Friday really, it’s snowing as I speak quite heavily! This is what being up in Norway is all about, seeing the winter conditions and walking through the snow, it’s a novelty as most of you know back in Wales, how often do we see it!?

I’m really just finishing off my photography work now, another 10 solid days of photography should be enough.

Looking forward to seeing you all, plus as you might have noticed i’ve not written so much on the blog lately, just either been really busy or not too much to report, but i’ll try and keep it updated for the final stretch now!

Take it easy!

Day 44 in Oslo

Hey all!

How would I spend a sunny afternoon in Oslo, Norway? By celebrating with a hoard of Irish, that’s how!

I was just taking some pictures in the central square and suddenly Scottish, Welsh, Irish, English all started to gather, loads waving Irish flags and the sound of bagpipes filled the square. A crowd of Norwegians started to form, onlooking at the strange music and attire, it almost seemed like there was a huge rugby international going on!

I got talking with some very nice people from Ireland, and they told me that there are alot of Irish in Oslo, and that the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations are an annual event in the city. I accepted an invite to march in the parade with all the Irish, it was a great atmosphere and a really great day for it, the sun was shining, almost like a summer’s day!

We all gathered at the end of the parade outside the city hall, for a speech and Irish dancing and music, and well wishes to the Irish national rugby team! This was followed by another parade…straight to the pub, The Dubliner!

After a pint of Guiness, I headed on down to the waterfront, shot a couple of films and made the most of the blazing sun while sitting next the fjord, just a great day today, so unplanned but yet everything has just been alot of fun today!

Day 41 in Oslo

Hey!

Well tonight I’ve been invited over for dinner with some friends, so it should be a nice evening out! Some nice wine and food, can’t ask for more!

I’m just on my way to the gym now, so thought i’d update my blog first, as it’s started to look a bit thin in recent days!

Friday I shall be going on a trip with some students to Akershus Castle – Dating from 1299, this Medieval castle and Royal Residence developed into a fortress in 1592 after which it was rebuilt into a renaissance castle 1637-1648. www.akershusfestning.no

So that’ll be interesting and some more photographs will be put up on Friday evening from that day!

Hope all is well!

Day 38 in Oslo (6 NATIONS & FA CUP TAKEOVER)

Wales have a positive points difference of 65 while France will take a points difference of 27 to Cardiff, meaning France will have to beat Wales by 20 points to claim the Six Nations title.

This is after France could only beat Italy 25-13!

Wales can’t afford to let this one slip and i’m sure the boys will fulfill all the expectations and take the Grand Slam next week!

How about the FA Cup? Man Utd, Chelsea and Middlesbrough are out! Barnsley, Portsmouth and Cardiff are through to the Wembley Semi Finals! They will be joined by West Bromwich Albion to make up the final 4.

Which now guarantees that there will be a team from outside of the premiership in the FA Cup final in May!

What a weekend of Sport! Sorry to those who are wondering where the heck the Norway news is, but this is far more interesting after all this has happened!

 Take it easy!

Day 37 in Oslo

_44478399_-3.jpg

This picture says it all! 4 wins in a row, in Dublin to clinch the triple crown is just awesome! I’m gutted i’m not back in Wales to experience all this but, I feel more at home seeing this great team going all the way! Just to beat France in Cardiff next and the title is all ours!

Things are okay here, i’ve started at the gym today, felt good to workout a bit! So it’s a nice way to spend these horrible rainy days anyway! It’s relentless today, just really grey, windy and rain!

Tomorrow the plan is more photography and to organise some theory work.

Not alot else to report, but hope everyone back home is good!

Take it easy.

Day 33 in Oslo

Well time is ticking along now isn’t it?

Okay I admit it’s still a way off until the end of April, but with all my work to complete, a gym membership, other places to see in Oslo, such as the Viking ship which is supposed to be great to see! Time should really fly…. I miss alot of really great people back home, but i’m on a mission lol I’ll be back, look out when I do!! :P

So tonight is annual waffle night! Fingers crossed they have some this time, as they didn’t the one week it was really cold, and it takes us a good half an hour to walk there lol

I also will now have the internet in my room and university, which is great so I can update this even more, with pictures too, as it’s been difficult to transport down to uni, which is also a 30 min walk from here.

Today the sun is shining, it’s actually quite warm in my room, it’s that strong! Not what I signed up for though, where is that snow all gone!? Well it was meant to at the weekend, but sources tell me that when it RAINS in Oslo City, it SNOWS in the hills around OSLO. There is supposedly a really thick layer of fresh snow up on the Tryvvan skiing and snowboarding course (The place where I went skiing).

Today I shall continue taking photographs for my projects back home and here, I’d love to put them on the blog, but the only problem with that, is that I have nowhere to develop film and print it – i’m assuming i’ll have to wait until I get to Uni back home. Fingers crossed though, i’ll find something!

Hope you’re all well!

Thanks also for your comments, they are all appreciated!

Day 31 in Oslo

Hey all!

Things are okay here, not really alot to update to you over the weekend, just been researching for projects and having a bit of a chill out weekend!

Happy Mother’s Day by the way Mum! I think travelling hundreds of miles from home gives me a good excuse to pass on a present this year :> haha!

The “snow” never came, weather predictions really do suck sometimes!

Take care all!

Day 29 In Oslo

Febuary ends here today! Month 1 completed!

Ah I wonder what March has in store, well hopefully snowboarding is one of the next things! To cook nicer things also, because i’ve found some more affordable shops at last!

Also lots and lots of photo taking this month, this is really the crucial month! April is all about buying stuff to take home haha!

Snow is predicted for tomorrow, so that’ll be a nice start to March!

Last night we were invited to dinner, by our friends in another student building, we had authenitc American chilli, was a great meal! There were about 8 of us around the table for dinner, all from different countries, England, Wales, America, Norway and Belgium I believe!

Tonight we’re going to an arranged party, with our university and the cities other university, so it should be a good night!

Hope everyone is well!
